North Bali International Airport Becomes a Magnet for Global Cooperation and Foreign Investment

KUBUTAMBAHAN – With the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with three strategic partners to realize the vision of a world-class North Bali International Airport, PT BIBU Panji Sakti reaffirms its commitment to the airport’s realization.

The collaboration with three globally recognized companies — PT Powerchina Inteligensi dan Integritas Energi Teknologi Indonesia Company (an affiliate of PowerChina), ClarkeHopkinsClarke Architects (CHC) from Australia, and PT Garuda Daya Pratama Sejahtera (GDPS) under the Garuda Indonesia Group — marks a significant milestone in accelerating the development of North Bali International Airport, a project envisioned to embody advanced technology, environmental sustainability, and cultural harmony.

The signing ceremony took place at PT BIBU Panji Sakti’s office in Kubutambahan, Buleleng, Bali, on Tuesday (October 28). Representing BIBU, the MoU was signed by CEO Erwanto Sad Adiatmoko. Also present were Zeng Anzhi, Director of Powerchina Inteligensi dan Integritas Energi Teknologi Indonesia; Dean Landy, Co-Partner of ClarkeHopkinsClarke; and Cornelis Radjawane, President Director of PT GDPS.

The event was witnessed by several traditional leaders who are members of Paiketan Puri-Puri Se-Jebag Bali (P3SB), including Cokorda Gde Putra Nindya, Daily Chairman of P3SB and Elder of Puri Peliatan Ubud; Anak Agung Ngurah Ugrasena, Secretary of P3SB and Elder of Puri Agung Singaraja, Buleleng; Anak Agung Ngurah Gede Puja Utama, Elder of Puri Agung Kerambitan; AA Alit Kakarsana, Elder of Puri Blahbatu, Gianyar; Cokorda Gede Dibya, Elder of Puri Petak, Gianyar; and Anak Agung Ngurah Juli Artawan, Elder of Puri Anyar Tabanan.

The North Bali International Airport is a world-class project embracing the principles of technological advancement, environmental consciousness, and cultural preservation. With an estimated investment value of Rp50 trillion (approximately US$3 billion), the airport is designed to handle 20 million passengers per year in its initial phase and feature a 3,600-meter runway, with operations targeted to begin in 2028.

PT BIBU Panji Sakti CEO Erwanto Sad Adiatmoko emphasized that this collaboration represents a synergy of technical excellence, design aesthetics, and aviation operations.

“We have brought in globally reputable partners to ensure that North Bali International Airport is built to world standards while remaining rooted in Bali’s culture and harmony. This is a concrete step toward equitable development and enhanced national connectivity,” said Erwanto.

The strategic event also welcomed Hong Kong-based entrepreneur Ricky Tse, a cross-border investor who also owns a resort in Bali. His visit to Kubutambahan signified his interest in expanding investments in the region and potentially attracting other investors from his country to support developments surrounding the airport.

“Of course, an airport requires follow-up investments, and we see great potential here. We have a network of investors who are interested in developing projects around the Buleleng area,” Ricky said.

The North Bali International Airport is set to become a new hub for Indonesia’s air connectivity and an alternative to relieve congestion at Ngurah Rai Airport. The project is envisioned as a gateway for tourism and investment in northern Bali, integrating concepts such as aerocity development, industrial zones, clean energy, and eco-tourism.
