Penelitian Harvard Graduate School of Education menegaskan bahwa empati anak lebih dipengaruhi oleh perilaku yang mereka lihat sehari-hari daripada nasihat atau pendidikan formal.
Di tengah derasnya media sosial, publikasi positif memiliki peran besar dalam membentuk cara anak memandang kebaikan.
Ketika mereka melihat orang tuanya mengunggah kegiatan sosial—seperti membantu tetangga, menolong hewan terlantar, mendukung penggalangan dana, atau sekadar membagikan konten yang menginspirasi—anak belajar bahwa empati adalah tindakan nyata yang pantas dibanggakan.
Media sosial menjadi ruang pembelajaran moral ketika dipenuhi contoh kebaikan, bukan hinaan atau kemarahan yang sering menjadi konsumsi harian.
Sikap orang tua di kehidupan nyata memperkuat pesan tersebut. Rumah yang aman secara emosional membuat anak terbiasa mendengar dan didengar, sehingga mereka lebih mudah berempati.
Sebaliknya, memaksa anak meminta maaf tanpa pemahaman atau menghukumnya ketika ia salah hanya menumbuhkan ketakutan, bukan kepedulian. Anak belajar dari bagaimana orang tuanya memperlakukan sesama, menilai orang, dan memperlakukan makhluk hidup lain.
Setiap ungkapan kesabaran, setiap pilihan untuk tidak menghakimi, dan setiap tindakan kecil menolong menjadi pendidikan moral yang paling efektif.
Pada akhirnya, empati tumbuh dari teladan dan pengulangan. Ketika sikap orang tua di rumah selaras dengan publikasi positif yang mereka tampilkan di media sosial, anak mendapat dua sumber pembelajaran sekaligus, kebaikan yang hidup di depan mata, dan kebaikan yang diperlihatkan kepada dunia.
Menutupi kebaikan dari kamera media sosial pada jaman Gen Z ini, membunuh perhatian anak pada empati mereka untuk mengetahui hal – hal baik, tanpa publikasi juga baik tetapi itu cara – cara kekolotan yang hanya menyenangkan ego sendiri dalam berbuat kebaikan tanpa ingin berbagi pelajaran kebaikan bagi orang lain.
Dari sinilah lahir generasi yang lebih lembut, lebih peduli, dan lebih siap menghadapi dunia dengan hati yang utuh. (Tim)
