SANUR – An Australian citizen from Sydney, identified as Glenn Raymond Gibbins, claims his police report has received little follow-up despite being filed months ago. According to his legal representative, Made Somya Putra, the case has shown signs of neglect by law enforcement.
The report, registered under number LP/B/523/VI/2025/SPKT/POLRESTA DENPASAR/POLDA BALI on June 19, 2025, details an alleged assault that occurred on May 30, 2025, at Villa Amandesa, Jalan Betngandang I, Sanur Kauh, South Denpasar. The incident is being investigated under Article 351 of the Indonesian Penal Code.
According to the victim, the dispute began while he was speaking with a friend, Alan Edward Eggleston, outside the villa about feeding stray animals. The alleged perpetrator, identified as Brian Ronald Cowling, reportedly came down from the second floor and entered Villa Unit No. 5, where an argument quickly escalated into physical violence.

Brian Ronald Cowling is the perpetrator who committed violence resulting in serious injuries.
Cowling is accused of choking and forcefully pushing Gibbins to the ground, resulting in a broken hip on his left side. Due to the injury, Gibbins was bedridden for weeks, requiring adult diapers and incurring significant medical and personal expenses.

Attorney Somya emphasized concerns that authorities may have allowed the suspect to leave Bali without proper legal process.
“The victim requires certainty regarding his case. He has suffered serious injuries, including a broken hip, which has prevented him from living normally,” Somya said.
Somya further urged the police to take immediate action, stressing that prolonged inaction risks sending the wrong signal to other foreign nationals in Bali.

Glenn Raymond Gibbins is the victim who suffered broken bones and incurred significant medical expenses.
“This case has been pending since June. The police must act swiftly to prevent similar incidents where foreigners feel free to act violently without consequences,” he added.
The victim and his counsel continue to seek justice and accountability, calling for authorities to ensure the rule of law is upheld in Bali. (Ray)
