BADUNG, July 10, 2025 — Dr. dr. Ketut Kwartantaya Winaya, Sp.D.V.E., Subsp. O.B.K., FINSDV, FAADV, emerged as a central figure at the 20th Annual Scientific Meeting (PIT XX) of PERDOSKI 2025 and the 1st PAN Asia Conference of Dermatology held in Bali.
As Chair of the Organizing Committee, Dr. Kwartantaya underscored the critical role of Dermatology, Venereology, and Aesthetic (DVE) specialists from Asia in advancing global skin health standards.
Carrying the theme “Empowering the Leading Role of Dermatology, Venereology and Aesthetic Specialists in Enhancing Skin Health From Asia to The World,” the conference served as a pivotal moment to strengthen collaboration among Asian countries in addressing increasingly complex dermatological challenges.
“Today’s DVE specialists are not just clinical practitioners — they are public educators, advocates for skin health, and agents of social transformation,” Dr. Kwartantaya said in his opening remarks. He emphasized that Asia’s diverse skin types and rich cultural backgrounds are powerful assets for innovation and global medical leadership.
The event welcomed over 2,000 participants from Indonesia and abroad and featured a range of scientific activities, including symposia, workshops, conferment ceremonies for the FINSDV and FAADV honorary titles, community outreach at SLB Negeri 1 Badung, and a Cultural Night at Garuda Wisnu Kencana.
PERDOSKI Chairperson for 2024–2027, Dr. Hanny Nilasari, stated that the conference also marked the beginning of Indonesia’s official bid to host the World Congress of Dermatology (WCD) in 2031. “It’s our big dream to bring Indonesia to the global spotlight,” she said.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. dr. M. Yulianto Listiawan, President of the AADV, addressed the ongoing issue of illegal beauty clinics operating without licensed medical professionals. He clarified that PERDOSKI is focused on scientific matters, while regulatory enforcement lies with BPOM and the Ministry of Health, and criminal cases fall under the jurisdiction of law enforcement. “If there’s a concern, the public or media can report it directly to us or Dr. Kwartantaya — even via Zoom,” he stated.
Dr. Steven Chow Kim Weng, President of ALDS, also expressed his appreciation for Asia’s united spirit during the conference, stressing the importance of using officially registered cosmetic products in both Indonesia and Malaysia.
This landmark conference demonstrated that Asia is ready to lead in setting global dermatological standards — with Dr. Ketut Kwartantaya standing at the forefront of that movement. (Ray)
