DENPASAR – The Australian Consulate-General in Bali held an information session on 9 December 2025 to support the global “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” campaign.
With this year’s theme, “UNiTE to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls,” the event focused on helping Indonesian women recognise digital threats and stay safe online.

A total of 22 young women from the R.O.L.E. Foundation’s Bali WISE program took part in the interactive session. The program equips women with practical skills to build sustainable communities across Indonesia.
The workshop was led by sociologist and Udayana University academic, Nyoman Ayu Sukma Pramestisari, an expert in women’s protection and empowerment in digital spaces.

In her remarks, Australian Consul-General Jo Stevens emphasised the government’s commitment to advancing gender equality globally.
“When women and girls are denied equal rights and opportunities, it creates an environment where violence is tolerated or overlooked”

“I hope today’s discussion helps us understand the risks, take action to protect ourselves, and support survivors. Together, we can end gender-based violence in all its forms,” she said.
